Damaraland Wilderness

The real experiences happen outside the plan. The essence of travel is exploration, and the heart of exploration is the journey. Instead of just "getting there", we need to let nature guide us. The Ultimate Wild & Extreme Damaraland Adventure offers just that.

An expedition -type journey through the remote North-west part of Namibia. Adventurous exploring with free camping makes every trip a unique wilderness experience.

Although most of Namibia could be described as remote and “out there”, one area stands out from the rest... The Damaraland.

The Damaraland is Namibia Active Adventures’ specialist area. This is one of the most remote places on this planet and a last true, free wilderness areas. No sign of any civilisation for the next few days. Looking from above we see how the land was moved and shaped over 300 million years ago. Volcanic craters and huge layers of soil have been turned on their side during the Gondwana rift, leaving behind a raw and rugged wilderness. It’s hostile and seemingly deserted from all living kind, but then there are the dry riverbeds which have carved their way through the rock and gravel to leave behind a lifeline for animal and plants. Highly adapted animals and plants have found their home here and are surviving without human interference.

On this journey we take you further off the grid than you ever thought possible, we sleep outside and can only rely on what we have brought with us. We follow the trails of the famous 3: wild, desert -adapted lion, elephant, and black rhino in testing weather conditions. Cold, chilly mornings with mist banks coming in from the Atlantic, the rising sun quickly brings back the heat, unpredictable winds, sandstorms, and much more. The land will transform the old you, refresh your soul and leave you with a true adventure heart.
